Instructions for setting up Anonymous
FTP
- Ask us to set up your website for Anonymous FTP.
- Go to your the Site Management section of your admin page, located at
http://www.yourdomain.com/admin/ , where "yourdomain" is the
domain name of your web site.
- In the File Manager located in your admin folder, set permissions for
the "pub" folder. Under "owner" check r, w, and x. Under
"other" check r, w, and x.
FYI: "r" means "read",
meaning you are able to view this document. "w" means
"write", meaning you are able to alter the document.
"x" means "execute", meaning that there is an action
associated with this document.
Instructions for using Anonymous FTP with
a browser
Note: This will not work for some versions of Microsoft
Internet Explorer, in which case see Instructions using an FTP
program
- In your browser, enter "ftp://ftp.thedomain.com/"
- To upload a file, click on "File" and choose "Upload
File" or if the file is on your desktop or in an open folder, simply
drag it onto the browser.
Instructions for using Anonymous FTP with
an FTP program
- Enter any profile name.
- Under Host Name/Address enter "ftp.thedomain.com"
- Host Type should be "automatic detect"
- User ID should be "anonymous"
- Under Password, enter your email address.
- Click OK to connect.
- Drag the file you want to upload onto the "Remote System"
window, and the file will appear in the window.
